My Weekend Outfits and New Designer Collaboration with H&M!
October 24, 2011
Good evening dolls! I wanted to post a weekend recap tonight and show y’all what I wore! I have really enjoyed hanging out with some great friends the past few weekends. This weekend I was back in Knoxville to visit my college roomie (who has moved back to Knoxville from ATL)!! We had a lot of fun Saturday afternoon cooking some yummy treats (more like me being an assistant cook….I’m not a cooking diva YET but working on that haha) and then watching the UT vs. Bama game at some friends’ house! Definitely a fun afternoon & evening!!!
I also wanted to post about an exciting new collaboration coming to H&M on November 19th! Like I mentioned in my very first blog post (read here: First Blog Post) I LOVE when high-end designers bring their clothing lines that normally sell for thousands to reasonably-priced clothing stores like Target and H&M. So the newest collaboration that I’m SO excited about is….Versace parterning with H&M!!! As stated in the press release on H&M’s website (find it here: Versace for H&M Press Release), “Versace is a brand steeped in glamour to its very core.” I can only hope I will be able to buy just one item from this awesome collection…but if it’s anything like the craze Missoni for Target created, I predict nothing will be left by the time I can make it to Atlanta!!!
Polyvore, the website I use to create all of my outfit sets I post on the blog, has a contest right now to use pieces from the Versace for H&M collection to create your OWN outfits with the theme of “your very best glam look for the party season.” So of course I had to enter…10 winners are chosen every day to win a scarf from the collection & a grand prize winner will receive 3 outfits. I don’t expect to win but thought I would at least show y’all my entry! The theme is “Silver and Gold Versace for H&M Glamour.”
So to drive up to Knoxville and hang out Saturday afternoon I wore a sweater I recently purchased at Forever 21 for $19.80. I really love an oversized short-sleeve sweater for fall & winter because they are GREAT for layering! For instance, since it wasn’t super chilly Saturday (only in the 60’s) I wore the sweater with just a tank top underneath. BUT when it gets to be super cold I plan on layering a long-sleeve shirt underneath. I love purchasing versatile pieces that can be worn with many different things…it’s my kind of wardrobe recycling, haha!

Saturday night = wardrobe change to watch the game! Since we weren’t actually GOING to the UT game and just watching it at a friends’ house, I thought it would be acceptable not to wear orange (as long as I didn’t wear Alabama colors like I wore LSU colors last weekend! lol). I bought this black & grey leopard print shirt at F21 when Stacey came to visit a couple of weeks ago. Once again it was sheer so I had to layer it over a black tube top…and I also decided to wear one of my favorite accessories right now: my black belt from NY & Company!

To go along with the post I did the other day on some of my favorite fall handbags, another bag I love is one Stacey bought recently at TJ Maxx for $29.95 by Miztique. It’s the perfect fall oversized handbag!

Peach Sweet Tea & A String of Pearls
October 22, 2011
Good morning dolls! Hope you’re having a great start to your weekend!
And finally, this post would not be complete without a picture of my sweet Nana and me at the Tea Room! I am SO blessed & thankful to have such a special relationship with her!
Thank you so much as always for reading! Also if you enjoy reading my blog I would LOVE for you to become a follower (of my blog AND my twitter account, refer to the links on the side)! I so appreciate everyone stopping by! I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend. I'm leaving soon for Knoxville to spend the weekend with some great friends!
I had a wonderful Friday with my Nana! She took me to eat lunch at the tea room in Ringgold, Georgia called "Cottage Treasures." This place is absolutely ADORBS and soooo girly, so naturally I love it! The food is absolutely delicious as well and of course I had to indulge in some peach sweet tea…I’m a southern girl after all! J
Sometimes I wish I could wear Audrey Hepburn’s famous outfit in Breakfast at Tiffany’s: a little black dress (LBD), black gloves, pearls, and a hair jewel that looks like a tiara. Since I very well couldn’t wear a tiara and gloves, I decided to at least wear one element of Hepburn’s famous outfit: a strand of pearls! And not just any pearls, but a special strand of pearls that Nana gave me a few years ago for Christmas. My grandfather (Daddy Jack) had given Nana a 3-stranded pearl necklace many years ago and Nana decided to re-strand one strand for me! There's nothing like receiving jewelry from family that has special meaning. You really can’t go wrong with pearls…when in doubt, wear pearls! They are SO classy and elegant. I knew these special pearls would be perfect to wear today!
Close-up of my pearls from Nana! |
I also wore a couple of new items today. I bought this black & brown striped blazer a few weeks ago at Forever 21 for $25. I know I’ve blogged about a couple of other blazers I have…I just love the look of a blazer paired with skinny jeans! A piece of advice for wearing a top with horizontal stripes...make sure the hem of it hits you ABOVE the widest part of your hips...if it hits across it makes you look wider!
I was also SO excited to pair my jacket with my new Missoni for Target heels (that I mentioned in my very first blog post…check it out here: Missoni: Tar-jay Style)!!! I knew they would work well with my outfit because they were the same color scheme (black & brown). I had these babies on all day long from around noon to 10 pm…needless to say 10 hours in them killed my feet but I am a firm believer in sacrificing comfort for fashion!!!!

Confession of a Nail-aholic
October 20, 2011
Good evening dahlings! Hope you’re having a great week! When trying to decide what nail polish to get yesterday, I had noticed that many of the advertisements in fashion magazines have models wearing gray nail polish and I love the way it goes with so many colors. It's understated but bold at the same time…it’s not quite as big of a statement as wearing black nails but more than wearing a neutral shade. A perfect fall shade...
However, to obtain such a perfect fall shade...I had to do something unthinkable. Something I've never done before. Something I never thought I would do. Dear readers, I have a confession to make….
However, to obtain such a perfect fall shade...I had to do something unthinkable. Something I've never done before. Something I never thought I would do. Dear readers, I have a confession to make….
I betrayed OPI.
I know, it was a big deal and I hope OPI will forgive me…but I was on a mission to rock a gray shade and I had one in particular in mind: Essie’s Power Clutch.
Oh Essie, I guess I will blame it on the cute name, adorbs bottle (I love the white lid and the square shape), and gorgeous shade that persuaded me to betray OPI. I can't say I regret it, but my heart will always belong to OPI.
So let me explain another reason I was SO tempted by this color and the Essie Fall Collection in general. First of all, Essie’s Fall Collection 2011 was inspired by handbags. As I read in the article "Duchess Kate Inspired Fall Nail Colors", the founder of Essie, Essie Weingarten, said this nail polish line was inspired by the one and only gorgeous Kate Middleton. Essie was inspired by a certain black clutch bag that Kate wore on her first visit to the US which really made her outfit stand out. As Essie said, "Every woman holds very close to her bag and it speaks volumes about what she's wearing." SO TRUE! What’s not to love about a nail polish line inspired by handbags AND Kate Middleton (another possible reason for my OPI betrayal, I'm slightly obsessed with handbags AND Duchess Kate)?! I couldn’t resist the gorgeous colors so I not only bought ONE but TWO shades before my nail appointment yesterday: a gray shade for my finger nails “Power Clutch” (described by essie.com as being a “deep gray-green”) and a deep burgundy color “Carry On” for my toes. I loved the way both turned out!
Essie made my gray nail dreams come true! Sorry OPI. |
So whose side are you on?? OPI's or Essie's?? Or another nail polish brand?? Leave me a comment below and tell me your fave nail polish brands!!! Thank you oh so much for reading!!!

Think Pink!
October 18, 2011
I love the idea of shopping to give back and with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month I thought I would do a blog post on the many products in stores right now that are giving a percentage of sales to breast cancer research. Breast cancer is a topic that is close to my heart: my precious Mawmaw passed away from it in 2008. I am sure many of you have also been affected in some way by this horrible disease and I think it is wonderful that stores are participating to give to such a good cause.
Another one of my favorite stores Forever 21 has a great selection of pink clothing and beauty items in which 10% of the price will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Click here to browse the collection: Forever 21 Breast Cancer Awareness Collection). Here are some of my favorite items from F21 benefiting breast cancer research:

And finally, Macy’s has a “Pink Shop” featuring many pink items ranging from cookware to jewelry. Browse the whole collection here: Macy's Pink Shop. My absolute favorite item is the following:

Weekend Recap & My Fave Fall Handbags
October 17, 2011
Good evening dolls! How was your weekend? I spent mine in Knoxville for the UT vs. LSU game! We unfortunately lost but I had a great time with friends and family! I wanted to share with you my OOTD for the game, then my OOTN for going out after the game.
So what are your favorite handbags for the fall?! I would love it if you left me a comment below!!!! Thank you so much for reading!
Xoxo,
Ashley
It was a bit chilly at the game so I decided to wear my new orange sweater & wool skirt from H&M (from this post here: My Loot from H&M). I also decided to wear my cowgirl boots….you can never go wrong with a pair of cowgirls!

Tailgating with friends before the game! What my friends & I do best: goofing off! |
When choosing my outfit for Saturday night, I of course didn’t think anything about my dress being PURPLE (aka LSU colors) until my friend mentioned it when we were getting ready. But since it was DARK purple (not exactly LSU colors) and I really love this dress (recently purchased at Forever 21 on sale for $12) I thought why not go ahead & wear it...people will probably not think anything of it! WRONG…can’t tell you how many times people congratulated me on the win, or said something to me about being a LSU fan!! I even had to show someone my old UT I.D. to prove I was a Vols fan! Oh well, it was a small price to pay for the sake of fashion and it was fun to be a Tigers fan for a night!!!! lol

I also thought it was about time I blogged about one of my absolute favorite fashion accessories…PURSES/HANDBAGS. A good handbag can really make an outfit. A girl can never have too many! I wanted to show you all my favorite bags for Fall 2011:
1. A structured satchel:
Check out the Polyvore I made featuring some of my favorite satchel bags I found online at various prices. I think structured satchels are so classy! I actually own the white Michael Kors bag pictured in the top right corner of the Polyvore. I love the off-white shade because it can go with either blacks or browns.

I LOVE leopard print…in fact I’m planning on doing a post on leopard print in the future! A great way to wear leopard print is through accessories…such as with a leopard print hand-bag.

3. Quilted chain bag:
Quilted chain hand bags are SO chic and classy. The one I own is a vintage bag from my Mom but they have some great ones in stores right now:
